ailments
Rob has been saying
for years
that your appendix
is a ticking time bomb,
good for nothing
but turning on you
when you least expect it.
I, however, have been
thinking he's
paranoid.
Until monday
when he called me
and sad he thought he
had a hernia...
then tuesday we
took him to care now
because the pain
was worse.
they of course
did tests and said
go to the ER,
you have appendicitis.
and who doesnt
love a good
"i told you so"
moment with
their spouse?
so i took him to
the ER
and we waited
and waited..
approx. 7 hours
for a surgeon
to take it out.
and one
finally did.
and we slept
at the hospital that night.
well, rob slept,
i sat in a chair
and stared at the
beeping light.
so now
I've gotten rob up
our stairs,
rented him some movies
got him some meds,
and now he is relaxing
in the recliner.
and on a
smaller scale,
i have smashed
my fingers in a door
of some sort
every day
the last 5 days...
i need to work on my
hand-eye
coordination..

a funny thing happened on the way to the forum
and by forum
I mean the post office.
I was in there buying stamps
and of course there was
a very long line.
Further up the line
there were two old ladies.
and i mean old, like in there 80's
and one, we'll call her Betty,
she looked like a Betty,
was saying to the other
how she got an email
saying her account has been hacked
and if she would send back her
account # and social security #
someone would run a credit check for her
to make sure her identity has not been stolen.
Well, everyone around hearing this is thinking
poor old lady is believing the scam,
but surely the lady with her,
we'll call her Martha,
is going to gently explain
why she shouldn't do this.
but then,
a 3rd old lady, Beatrice, behind them in line,
starts yelling at Betty, saying
"i can't believe you are so stupid
you would fall for that scam,
don't you know they are going to steal
your identity and take all your money..." etc.
and so Martha, sticking up for Betty,
starts yelling back.
"it's none of your business,
who asked you", etc.
and everyone else in line is thinking,
what the what is going on here?!?
old ladies fighting??
and i'm looking for the candid camera people.
so just as it looks like Betty is going to
smack Beatrice with her enormous bag,
the PO teller man comes out and breaks it up.
But seriously...
it was crazy.
and hilariously sad.
the holiday spirit
is not what it used to be
when said old ladies were not so old
i guess...

in a winter wonderland

rob and i decorated

our house for christmas
this weekend.
and it looks
completely
fabulous!
it's so exciting
to have a first
christmas together
and our new home,
and new ornaments
and picking out our
own stockings,
deciding which
traditions
we are going to hold on to,
which ones to start.
wonderful.

our tree is
blue and bright green

rob likes his stocking.

i got some cute
christmas placemats
and made a centerpiece
out of ornaments and
that straw holder thing..

"ok, ok turn off the lights,
lets try it out"

we put these snowflake
lights on our balcony!
so, as you can see,
our home is now
a magical winterland
of awesome.
