autumn

i went

to Ohio
last week
to photograph
a wedding.
and as i was
driving in my rental
jeep, which
was orange
and fantastic,
i had to call
my husband to tell him
about all the
strange trees that
i was seeing...
apparently
in the north,
they have what is called
autumn.
leaves change
to fabulous
bright colors.
crazy. ;)
here in texas
we mostly
just have
brown.
it was amazingly
beautiful!

I got to spend time with
the entire
side of my dad's family
this past weekend.
that has never happened,
being all together
at the same time
before.
it was
so much fun.
i have some really
crazy fun cousins.

here are a couple pictures
from the
bridal portraits
in ohio.

spontaneity

i've been
married

for a bit over
two months now
and it seems
that we may
never fall into
a routine...

my husband
(who is awesome,
by the way)
is gone
three days
and two
nights
of every
week.
sometimes a bit more
on various weekends.
and sometimes,
since i miss him
when he's gone,
i go along with him
on his journeys.
and so we spend
a lot of time
packing
and unpacking
overnight bags,
debating over
what to do
with puppy,

i want to bring her,
he wants to leave her.
food expires
in our fridge,
and there are
ever so many
fast food
bags in the back seat
of our cars...
this must be how newlyweds
gain weight
the first year
of marriage.
like the freshmen 15.
we'll call it the
newlywed 90 ;)

so here i sit
in a town where
i have no business
and very little
acquaintance,
with my puppy
on her pink leash,
outside a starbucks,
awaiting the return
of hubby dearest.
and i find,
that i do not mind
at all
the lack of
a norm
or routine.

probably becuase
of the coffee...

...just kidding.

fried

i haven't

had much time
to write
these days.
busy busy.

rob and i
went to the
texas state fair
last week.

it was rob's
first time
at the greatest
fair ever!

so we had to
do it up right
which of course
meant
fair food.

lots and
lots of it.

fried turkey,
fried cookie dough,

caramel apples,
funnel cake..
oh my!

i still can't
figure this out...

the ferris wheel is magical at night

this is the last
weekend for
 the fair,
so you
should be sure
to go!

bleh,
i may never
eat again

sufficiently sogged

just when i thought

i liked fall..

the rain
had
to
start.

i guess i do like fall,
really,
the pumkins,
the holidays,
cool evenings.

but oh how i
dislike
the rain.

last week
rob and i went
with some friends
to a 1940's hangar dance
at the aviation museum
in fort worth.
it was amazing!
you should all
go next year.

it
was just
like being in
a fred astaire
movie.

we also went
to OKC
to see rob's brothers'
homecoming game.
i haven't been to
a highschool
football game
in years.

i'd
forgotten how
so much of
highschool is
one giant masquerade
where everyone is trying
so hard  to convince
everyone else that they
really are who
they are pretending to be.

anyway,
 it was a good trip
and fun was had
by all.

well, 'till
next
time.

i guess i do
enjoy a rainy day
a bit...

domestic

i've been

very
domestic
today.

clean
home.
grocery
shopping.
endless
laundry.

it's the perfect
day to stay
in.

im looking
forward
to the
eminent
cold
weather,
for once.

a few things
i'm excited
about
this
fall:

new jackets

comfort food
i love to make

my
new
pencils!

and,
my home
smells
like
pie!

what
are you
excited
about?

billy collins

he

is great.

if you haven't
read anything
by him,
you should.

this is him
reading one
of my
favorites:

There are a bunch
of videos
that go
with his poems
on youtube.
here are some
of my favorites.
