something's different here.....

As you can see, my blog has had a make-over.
I got tired of all the black...
too gloomy.

So I made a new title border thing,

added some fun artsy widgets,
(the jackson pollock one is my favorite)
and gave us a little eye-lift so to speak.
What'dya think?

*this is just an old photo I came across today..
My grandparent's wedding. so sweet.

no one to vote for...

So this whole election is just crazy.
There really is not one person
that I want running this country.
Every time I find one candidate that
I think is really decent, then they say something
or I find out something about them that
changes my mind.
I just have no idea.
It's ridiculous.
However I did find this cool website:
You answer quesitons on some issues
and it tells you where you stand and
which candidate is closest to your answers.
It's pretty interesting, however,
I still will not be voting for the candidate
with answers closest to mine,
I mean, just because
we share some of the same opinions on some issues,
doesn't mean I think they can be a good leader...
I'm really hoping someone is going to
make a better impression on me by March,
because I just don't know who to vote for.

Should make for a very interesting next 4 years...

lazy sundays

I love a good lazy Sunday.

I'm at starbucks with my sweetieface
(he loves it when I call him that;)
and we're drinkin' coffee,
reading, listening to our itunes
and its relaxing. :)

So how was everybody's week?
I did a lot of random things this week..
surprise birthday parties, wedding dress shopping,
(not my own, dont freak out)
traveling to uncharted territory
(Corinth, TX... ??)
I even thought about writing a children's book,
mostly so I could illustrate it...

I ran across this website, its pretty sweet..
no pun intended.

Also, while looking at wedding cakes
with a friend of mine who is getting married,
we found some pretty awesome/hilarious/ridiculous
wedding cakes. I mean, who knew you
could get that creative with a cake?!
Here are a couple of my faves:

this is just awesome

his and hers Tivos? really?
This is my favorite!

one last thing,
if you didn't hear Rob's sermon this morning,
listen to it online!
awesome

I've been cold before...but THIS cold??

I'm not feeling very inspired.. Im too busy shivering.

For some reason,
(probably being that my room is the
last and farthest back room in my house)
the heat never makes it all the way back to my room..
So i shiver....
all night..
I got out 598723 blankets but
I was still shivering.
So needless to say I didn't sleep much
and that makes for a very loooong day today....

So I'll just show you pictures..
here are a couple of my little cousins.
Carter and Emily... some of the cutest and funniest kids ever.
those eyes... seriously...
how did I not get those genes?

angry

I've been reading an awesome book
called "Not On Our Watch".

You really have to read it.
(getting on my soapbox now)
I've been really really burdened by
this situation in Darfur for a long time.
And I realize that not everyone is
(though I can't understand why)
But even if you're not,
you still need to read the book.
Because then you will be.
Yeah, it's hard to sleep soundly in your bed
and know what while you sleep tonight,
thousands will be forced from their homes,
starved, raped, tortured, and brutally slaughtered,
for no other reason than
who their parents are or where they were born.
But you cannot just remain silent while leaders of the world
turn a blind eye
and make excuses for failing to protect people of Darfur.
You'll have to voice your compassion for the victims
and anger at leaders who are timorous, complacent
and unwilling to take risks.
Darfur is the capitol of human suffering today.
It's the holocaust of our generation.
Darfur deserves to live.
Our failure to speak out to end the ongoing genocide
in Darfur places us on the wrong side of history,
and that should be intolerable to all of us.

So for the sake of our humanity,
!

and welcome to the fight

Workin' hard

It has been a very busy week already.

I took Jenny and Sean's engagement pictures on Sunday
and it took me 2 days to proof them all
because there were TONS of them.
But they are reaaally cute and you should look at them
on my pixeldust blog, I'm going to try
and have them up by this afternoon.
Also I have been using my new
Photoshop CS3, which I love
and making some valentine cards
which are also pretty cute.
Here is a sneak peek at the engagement pics.

Do you need a hug?

Of course you do!

Who doesn't need hugs??
It's Free Hug Day today.
I'm sure you've seen people all over holding free hug signs
or wearing shirts that say free hugs or something.
I've seen quite a few already.
And my starbucks barista guy hugged me and
gave me a free hugs sticky note to wear.
It was hilarious.
I LOVE free hugs day!
This guy named Juan Mann started the free hugs campaign
because the world is full of sadness and social disconnection
and people all around you just need a hug!
So he started going out and standing on corners with a free hug sign
and people would stop tell them how their dog just died,
or they just lost a job and they would hug and they would
feel a little better
And now it has spread all over the world!
It's pretty phenomenal.
I got a few more pictures of random people hugging
and I love it!
I mean, suffice it to say I feel the love today!
So go hug a stranger!

Wondering Time

I come from a pretty big family,
And I've always had a pretty active social life,
So I'm seldom really alone.
I've never liked being alone.
I've had a lot of alone time this week ...
I don't like being by myself.
I get lonely pretty fast
But, seeing as how I was alone
I had to do the things I normally do with people
by myself.
It's kinda weird, but I made it OK.

I had a lot of time to think and wonder
about anything and everything..
Things I haven't thought about in a very long time.
Things I haven't ever thought about.
Happy things.
Funny things.
Weird things.
Sad things.
and then of course if left to my own wondering ends,
I also being to worry...
And then it all just gets ridiculous

wellp, here goes...

i've finally been convinced to watch a Harry Potter movie.
i've never watched one, I tried to read the first book
last year but i just couldn't get into it...
i dunno, it just didn't interest me i guess.
i wanted to like it like everyone else seems to.
i went to see the 3rd or 4th movie with some friends
after homecoming a couple years ago..
but it was like 2 a.m. and i fell asleep
20 minutes into it.
however, my sister has slowly gotten my
entire family into it, and now even my mom is telling
me i should at least watch the movies.
SO
I'm watching the 1st one...
I'll letcha know how it goes...

I heart my mac

My brother Avery, sister Annie, and I discovered the

fun of Mac's "photobooth" last night..

I've had my mac for a couple months now,
but I hadn't really played with all of its features yet..
Its not all that fun by yourself!
But last night the 3 of us had a grand time looking at all of
our warped faces and crazy expressions.
I haven't laughed that hard since I don't know when!
I've been absolutely forbidden from putting the
pictures on here on pain of being disowned, so sorry...

I'm listening to the "Candide" soundtrack now.
Leanord Bernstein is a musical genius!
It's one of my all time favorite musicals.
You should watch it.
Also another reason I heart my mac
because I can listen on here while I'm working at my desk,
and no one is any the wiser!...
except you.. and you wont tell right? ;)

classic

I've always loved older things.. just anything older than me.

I'm fascinated by the way things were once upon a time.
the way it was that has made it how it is now.
I especially love movies or old books from like the 20's or 50's or something.
I love how people talked back then,
or looked
or dressed,
or whatever

I love that ladies used to wear gloves and hats
and put on lipstick with a little brush
and say things like
"oh gee why I couldn't possibly ever in the least"...
it all looks so glamorous in movies.
so classy!

I want to be sophisticated and classy ;)

brrr!

it's freezing outside!

literally.
i'm not a fan.
i want to move someplace where it's
warm all the time.
i love it when you go outside
and it's so hot that
it's hard to breathe for a second...
is that weird?

my brother is trying to get my dad
to let us take a family ski trip over spring break..
i'm lobbying for a trip to Cali instead.
doesn't that look heavenly?
please take me there now.

i've been busy taking a lot of pictures lately.
i'm in love with my new camera.
i just finished whitney and scott's
engagement pictures.
cute.
you can look at them on my
if you're interested.

and you should be ;)
